Kick HH out if he is misleading the party – George Kunda

Hakaindeh in 2008
Vice President George Kunda has accused opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) leader, Hakainde Hichilema of gagging the party’s original philosophy of inclusiveness and non-tribalism stance.

Mr. Kunda said Mr. Hichilema’s going into a political pact with the Patriotic Front (PF) was against the ideals on which late UPND president Anderson Mazoka formed the party.

“When the late Mazoka formed the UPND, it was represented by all tribes, it had a national agenda but HH is selling the party for silver,” he said.

He said PF president, Michael Sata, with whom Mr. Hichilema has entered into a pact, was supporting tribalism as evidenced in the last Kasama parliamentary by-election campaigns where he (Sata) allegedly declared that his candidate should be supported and voted for because he comes from Kasama.

“Hakainde Hichilema is not a tribalist, but why has he gone into a pact with a self-confessed tribalist?” he asked.

Mr. Kunda was speaking when he addressed a public rally in Chisamba today.

He appealed to UPND Members of Parliament (MPs) not to allow their party to lose the ideology it had at its formation.

“Tribalism is illegal in this country. So I am appealing to MPs in the UPND to kick HH out if he is misleading the party” he said.

The Vice President disclosed that many members and sympathizers of the UPND have noted the differences in the UPND-PF pact and were therefore leaving it to join the MMD.

“Thousands of Zambians have seen the evil in the UPND-PF pact and so they are moving out. By 2011, the pact will be a shell,” he told the rally.

Mr. Kunda has unlike the pact, President Rupiah Banda was promoting love and non-tribalism.

He said the party had a bright future and hence should be supported by all Zambians.

He said government, under the MMD has performed very well in the education, health and agriculture sectors by building more schools, health centres and creating a fertilizer support programme for farmers.

Mr. Kunda said government was currently rehabilitation silos around the country to ensure that the grain produced by farmers was properly stored before it was sold or consumed.

“As a government, we are planning ahead to address the problems we have in Zambia. We are developing the sixth national development plan which will be implemented over a period of five year,” he said.

And speaking at the same rally, Chisamba Member of Parliament, Moses Muteteka appealed to government to consider degazeting some forestry land in his constituency if order to subdivide it for resettlement by the local people.

Mr. Muteteka said many more people in Chisamba were engaging into farming hence the need to allocate more land for agricultural activities.

Earlier, Mr. Kunda addressed commercial farmers in Chisamba where he declared that government will protect farmers’ interests in the country in order to guarantee food security in the country.

Mr. Kunda said farmers were playing a very important role in the economic development of the country hence the need to protect their interests.

He said government will address farmers’ interests in terms of promoting irrigation and providing small scale farmers with agriculture inputs such as fertilisers and seeds.

And Zambia National Farmers Union Vice President David Golden, who is also a farmer in Chisamba, said government’s agricultural policies have enabled the sector to grow massively in the last ten years.

Mr. Golden said Zambia was now self-sufficient in wheat, maize and Soya production.

He however asked government to ban wheat importation into the country because there was enough local wheat produced by Zambian farmers.

He however complained that fluctuations of the exchange rate of the Kwacha to the United States dollar have affected farmers’ profits.

Mr. Kunda was on a three day tour of Central province to interact with chiefs, local people to appreciate challenges they were facing and inspect development projects.

  1. kunda why not join upnd if you are so concerned!? this man clearly is worried for upnd. wouldnt be surprised if he is a founding father of upnd. all i can say is that mmd watch out you have a upnd at heart vice president

  2. and when are we going to ever see politics of substance i.e attacking specific policies of the pact rather than personal attacks on leaders of the party?! kunda u are too educated for such naive attacks! we want to hear solid policy attacks!

  3. Ka Kunda that’s non-part flesh of your nose correct your movement of$$$*********************** before correcting other peoples business

  4. very unfortunate to hear useless words coming from a person holding the position of vice president of a country with a degree(s)..this only goes to show that holding a degree does not make one wise.very sad….

  5. George Kunda must be sick in the head; how can a Minister of Justice and Veep wake up every morning only to talk about Sata and HH? This kind of politics belongs to the archives! He has probably never been to countries like the USA where members of the cabinet do not openly engage in partisan politics. How can our country develop when those who are in power do nothing except criticising leaders in the opposition? If Sata or HH were killed today, who would be the main suspect?

  6. Very flawed reasoning by Mr Veep. Accuses HH of tribalism merely because he makes an alliance with a party whose leader alledgedly encourages triabalism. The fact that these two parties are predominantly composed of different tribes in itself dissipates tribalism, therefore the attack on HH is illogical. I bet even if HH had not shown interest in the alliance, he would have still been accused of tribalism.

Mr Veep, try some other trick because your jive is not working here.

  7. The last kicks of a dying horse indeed!!! The mmd watch is now indicating that its evening for the party. Time has come to go guys. Ba kunda reserve your energy bcoz no matter what u do the mmd will go come 2011. Keep on doing the good job of campaigning for the pact.

  8. Kunda’s engineering appears to be getting more and more effective in trivializing the pact and its leaders. RB must be happy to have him…..

  9. Its a pity the job of veep combined with that of Justice minister has been reduced to such low levels of making such mindless statements. I would likt to remind Kunda that it is his RB who went to Easter province and asked voters there not to for Sata because he did not hail from there. He did not offer any policy reasons, but simply tribe. Further I also want to ask Kunda to retract the lie that Sata said the people of Kasama must vote for GBM because he comes from that area. It was GBM who made those remarks, not Sata. And he has gone on record to defend his remarks as personal (not PF policy).

  10. For a lawyer, George Kunda’s idea of legality is very cavalier! I do not know whether the man was ever a good lawyer but it would appear whatever disease that afflicts him and making his lips red like a snake is also affecting his ability to reason logically. Especially these days, every time he opens his mouth, ku bwabwata kweka kweka! It’s like he was there when Tetamashimba breathed his last and part of the scatterfool’s soul entered him whence the uncontrolable diarrhea of the mouth.

  11. This Kunda is a cheap politician, the other day he attacked Sata, today he attacks HH whats wrong with Zambian politics? with this kind of politicians like Kunda Zambia will not develop, please Mr Veep bring politics of issues and policies and not politics of character assasination.

    “For the marginalized Zambians”

  12. Comrade George Kunda is too petty to be Vice President or Minister of Justice. It is unbelievable that a person who is only a heart beat away from the Republican presidency can exibit such pettiness and partsanship. And since when did tribalism become “illegal” in Zambia? If it is, why accuse someone in a speech without indicting him or her to face charges in a court of law, Mr. Minister of Justice?

  13. Where was Kunda when Mphezeni said pipo in Chipata should vote for RB becoz he comes from there? Where was GK when RB was busy telling Easterners to vote for him coz of his big nose. Like someone has already said, let us discuss issues. If Kunda thinks UPND is dying, he should silently be happy-they are doing his anus a service! Why go on a campaign to save an opposition political party? Whay is GK so preoccupied with the pact? If tribalism was “illegal”, then why did we have the FAMILY tree during the Legacy’s rule?

  14. As you may know, STD problems when they get into one’s brain they lose it. The last I met Kunda he did not have such breached lips. What is breaching his lips might be breaching his brain too. He needs mental assessment. Seriously, soon Zambia will have a VP with a mental problem. Watch him head to chainama soon. The guy needs help. We can be laughing here, joking about what he says while our VP is going nuts under our watch.

  15. It’ s quite amazing to be getting such kind of floppy comments against the opposition from a vice president. Please, George and your boss Rupiah, i beckon u to realise that you will never, never be in those positions forever. From my own assessment, that is a language of desperation and you are genuinely scared of the pact ( Michael and Hakainde) so to say. I personally, I don’ t see anything that you can boast about. People are suffering, the two unions on the copperbelt which are fighting for salary increases for miners have failed to achieve their objective because of you kunda and your boss Rupiah. Watch out and the world is watching. 2011 is just around the corner and you are going whether you like it or not so leave HH and Sata alone. To Hell with your fake MMD government.

  16. George is sickly, very sick in the head. He has to waff waff to please Rupiah Banda, also Rupiah is using him to get the MMD presidency at the convention. Well the circus goes on. George now demanding UPND to kick out H.H. mestro he he he what do you say to this & ur UPND?? The only chap the MMD are using is major Chizyuka, so its wishful thinking that Form 2 drop out poligamist Munkombwe & Chizyuka can deliver southern province to MMD. Aah 2010 – 2011 period will be a comedy of errors, very intresting.

  17. i wonder why george “pelican” kunda is concerned about hh, sata and the pact. the pact has its spokesemen in charles wahuna kakoma and wynter kabimba. if george wants to speak on behalf of the pact, let him just defect. to whom is he appealing the removal of hh? is it to mmd members, to upnd members or to the pact? i think the mmd should remove george for promoting the interests of an opposition party. regis phiri, can you advise george kunda to learn to zip it if he has nothing to say?

  18. George Kunda, tell us which part of the Zambian constitution says that tribalism is illegal.Where as,tribalism in itself is bad,you cannot stop certain people from doing it.You can only go as far as discouraging. When KK appointed the Mumpashya commision of 1979 to investigate Mazoka, one of the findings of that report was that,Mazoka was a tribalist-thats documented. When KK fired RB from NAMBOARD,the major reason was that RB was tribal. We do not know of any case where Sata or HH were removed from office for being tribal. For example,Guy Scott is vice president of PF,Inonge Wina is the Chairperson,Winter Kabimba is Secretary general, how tribal is this coz Guy is scotish,Inonge is Lozi and Winter must be Lenje.George come on,give us proper data and facts, not PROPAGANDA naiwe!!!!

  19. those who can remember the initial stages of the mmd, unip leaders coined terms such as ba matipa just to deride the mmd. history is repeating itself. it is now the mmd deriding upnd, pf and the pact. adyeletu george, otherwise he will have no time to wipe his @r.se when we kick it. wafwa kasai, ku zaire mulandu.

  20. Following ““Hakainde Hichilema is not a tribalist, but why has he gone into a pact with a self-confessed tribalist?” he [Minister George Kunda] asked and “”Tribalism is illegal in this country. So I am appealing to MPs in the UPND to kick HH out if he is misleading the party” he[Minister George Kunda] said”, it is clear that the MMD GRZ have now felt the political heavy weight of UPND president and UPND-PF PACT 2011-presidential-candidate-to-be HH. This is why the MMD now wants to remove HH who has a big National following so that a weak candidate can be fielded by the PACT or UPND ongoing it alone in the 2011 elections.

I thus appeal to Mr PF president MC Sata and the UPND MPs to maintain the Zambian President to be HH as their sole candidate for 2011 elections…

  21. I’m dialling 991 so that the fire tender can pick up George taking him straight to a mental facility. he has lost it. He has gone bonkus. We have a mad V.P taking orders from NyamaSoya. Lets get rid of George Kunda & the MMD.

  22. Ba Maestro naimwe,if you really believe in the pact, stop saying ati HH should be president. From what the UPND spokesperson said, whichever candidate is chosen,it should sit well with everyone. It might not even be sata or HH.Please, spare us your hatred for Sata,we are now PF/UPND pact.Otherwise,if we put our personal trivialities before national intersest, the MMD shall bounce back in 2011.The issue of whether Sata or HH leads the pact should not divide us.

  23. I have Tonga friends who are really good and have no tribal alignments, but I doubt this #27 Maestro fimo fimo. You very well know that for Zambians to really flush out this thievery government of RB they need to team up as political parties and work on their strong hold areas of the country. There you go! separating them by the tone of your writing. You jus can’t hate someone like Sata. You very well know how effective the man is. Please just waite until they both tell us what they have in plan. I don’t think HH is that dull that he can blindly join forces with people like sata, they must have agreed on something that you don’t know. Talala fye tondolo. you are one hell of a Tonga tribalist I have come across. Tonga’s are not bad people, but you are dainting their image, Fool!

  24. #27 is perfectly right why can’t we maintain the young man for president. This will make our job very easy. There will be no contravesy over the degree since everybody knows that he has had one for a long time. Tribe out , he is a better candidate.

  25. 29 Laurent Kunda and 30 Kadoli Katapa thanks for your concerns but please can you find an English Language teacher to help you. For it appears you are deficient in understanding simple English.

Have a blessed day all as we await the PF-UPND PACT and hopefully with the backing of Mr first President of Zambia KK to announce that UPND president and PF-UPND PACT presidential candidate to be is the PACT’s presidential candidate for 2011 Zambian Presidency elections.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

  26. Vice President George Kunda said Thousands of Zambians have seen the evil in the UPND-PF pact. Bamudala what is big Thousands and Million, because the pact has Millions of followers@@@@@@@@ By the way is campaign for 2011 on, beacuse whenever, George Kunda has already started campaign always talking about HH,Sata and the pact. I am afraid

  27. Tuyakuhota mwaka uno toonse. Na mba HH na mba Sata, kunyina makani. Nchotuyanda nkuti bakabwalala baunke. Viva Pact!

  28. 27
Maestro Hakucincha -In any case my uncle MCS has been disqualified through some NCC which will try hard it stays that way. But assure me that if we give a vote you Tongas will not behave like the Ngonis are doing – Wako ni Wako

  29. Vice President Goerge Kunda….. you disgust the zambian populace with you childish and petty comments. do us a favour and zip your mouth

  30. 35 Deja Vu greetings. On your concern, you know too well that Tonga people are hard workers and that we Tongas do our honest part to make sure things go well and everyone gets satisfied at the end of the day. On another note, the mighty UPND is going into 2011 elections as a PACT with its PF counterparts. So, since Mr PF MC Sata may probably not qualify to be presidential candidate for the PACT based on his lacking a credible degree, Mr Sata MC will then not even qualify to be appointed Vice President of Zambia. In such a case, PF will have to field a vice-president of their liking be it Winter Kabimba or whoever since Guy Scott and Given Lubinda are disqualified probably. Cabinet positions will have to be shared equally and Mr MC Sata can be Minister Without Portifolio again.

  31. Maestro, actually it’s not English teacher,it’s teacher of English.English teacher would mean that particular teacher is from England and teaches English whereas teacher of English would mean any person, not neccessarily from England who teaches English.Instead of us finding a teacher of English, you simply explain to us what you meant in case you feel,we did not understand your simple English.
